When I was diagnosed with LHON at 26, I ended up at a blind school in San Pablo, California. It was a tough neighborhood — gunshots at night, very little in the way of resources or guidance. Not every kid there had LHON specifically, but every one of them was navigating significant vision loss. And most of them were doing it under real financial pressure.
What I noticed then, and what I've seen over 20+ years in this community, is that the people who have the hardest time with LHON aren't just managing vision loss. They're managing vision loss while trying to figure out how to keep working, stay independent, support their families, or finish school. Adding a $65–200/month supplement protocol to that load is not a small ask.
The mitochondrial stack I've built this site around isn't a luxury item. Riboflavin B2 and CoQ10 are inexpensive, well-researched interventions that have been studied specifically in LHON patients. The science is sound. The barrier is access — both information and cost.
The LHON Access Fund is the simplest possible fix for the cost part. Every time someone buys from this store, a portion of that purchase goes into a fund that covers the Basic Stack for someone who applied. I review applications personally. The criteria are simple: newly diagnosed or recently converted, financial hardship, and a commitment to consistent use.
There's no 501(c)(3) yet — that's on the roadmap. For now, this runs on trust and transparency. I'll publish quarterly reports on this page — how many people the fund has supported and how much has been contributed. If you want to hold me accountable to that, good.
